Natural Treatment of Skin Allergies
Allergies are defined as hypersensitivity to foreign particles. The allergy may manifest in several forms including skin allergy. Skin allergies themselves have different manifestations like rashes, itching, scaly and dry skin and boils. Also, there are different types such as dermatitis, hives, prickly heat etc. In most cases, the cause of the allergy will determine the time needed to cure the problem. While something like prickly heat can be tackled soon, other forms of skin allergy can demand time and patience.
Allergy is characterized by a sensitivity level that is usually higher than normal to specific substances called allergens. These allergens spark a response in vulnerable individuals and enter the body through numerous routes such as ingestion, inhalation, injection and skin contact.
Treatment:
1. Take a bowl of oats and pour boiling water over it. Keep the bowl covered and leave it for say, 10 minutes. Strain the mix to obtain the liquid. Now transfer the liquid into an ice cube tray. By freezing the liquid, you obtain Oats cubes. Rub these frozen cubes over the affected skin gently.
2. Corticosteroid combined with antihistamines cream or ointment can be used to relieve skin redness. Dermatologist may prescribe a mixture cream contains anti histamines, anti redness, and itchy reducer. Some topical corticosteriods used for allergy treatment are betamethasone, clobetasol, clobetasone, desonide, desoxymethasone, dexamethasone, difluocortolone, flumethasone and fluocinolone.
3. Some natural herbs are also used for allergy relief. For skin allergies, aloe is helpful. If youve got an aloe vera plant, a common houseplant, just break off a leaf and rub the juice liberally over the reddened skin. It will stop the itching and relieve the redness quickly.
4. The best way is one of avoidance. If you know that you are allergic to a specific substance, simply avoid contact. If you are allergic to pollen, then you should avoid going out when pollen count is high. If you have food allergies, then refrain from consuming your food triggers at all costs. Foods that commonly cause allergic reactions include seafood like prawns and shellfish, as well as flavor enhancers such as MSG.
5. Go for an exfoliation once a fortnight either at a professional salon, or at home. It helps remove dead cells and revitalize the skin through blood circulation. Oatmeal combined with mashed apple is an excellent home scrub
6. Allergy sufferers throughout the centuries have turned to hot tea to provide relief for clogged-up noses and irritated mucous membranes, and one of the best for symptom relief is peppermint tea. Peppermint's benefits extend well beyond its delicious smell; the essential oil acts as a decongestant, and substances in peppermint contain anti-inflammatory and mild antibacterial constituents.
7. When you suffer from skin allergy, avoiding fragrance products will help you minimize the effect of the allergy on your skin. The fragrance of body lotions and shampoos can trigger fierce reactions from sensitive skin which could lead to possible skin inflammation. Similarly, dry skin can potentially promote inflammation. A quality moisturizing lotion can keep the skin from drying out.
